We apologize to Markup users who experienced unexpected downtime from 7pm to 8pm EST. A drive failed on one of our servers while we were doing some routine maintenance. We swapped in a backup drive and everything is back to normal.

We're pleased to announce that MarkUp now supports Internet Explorer 8. Thanks to all the IE users that have been patiently waiting for this update. We plan to add support for IE7 and IE9 in a future release.
We've just released several updates to help make MarkUp more usable. The first is a Markup Help page. It covers the basics about topics like drawing, sharing, and privacy. We'll be writing more about some of the other updates in upcoming posts. Keep the ideas and feedback coming!
Since MarkUp snapshots the DOM of the current page when you load the toolbar, it's easy to use it with other bookmarklets like the 960 Gridder. First, use the Gridder bookmarklet to apply a grid to the current page. Then, use MarkUp to add critiques. Here's an example.
